The Government has suspended nine senior officers following the death of ten people who consumed illicit brew at Hodi Hodi area in Bahati, Nakuru County.
Addressing the press, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya said that a section of officers in Nakuru North had been found culpable over the incident.
Mr. Natembeya mentioned that several officers were interdicted among them the officer commanding station (OCS), chiefs, their assistants, deputy county commissioner, and sub-county police commander.

"We have done investigations over the last few days. The Deputy County Commissioner of Bahati North Geoffrey Mayama has been interdicted starting today. Bernard Wamugunda, the sub-county police commander of Nakuru north has also been interdicted," Mr. Natembeya told the press.

The Rift Valley Regional Commissioner stated that the suspended officers had 21-days to show cause why they should not be fired.
Mr. Natembeya added, "If lives are lost due to officers' laxity, they will be sent home. The government policy is not to transfer underperforming officers but interdict them. This is the first step before one is fired."
This comes days after the government ordered the closure of all wines and spirits in Bahati, Nakuru County.
