According to Wambugu, Tuju is disconnected from Jubilee and is no longer working for the interests of the party.

Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has called for the immediate resignation of Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju over claims of violating a party agreement following their loss in the Kiambaa by-election.

In a statement on Wednesday night, Wambugu claimed that Jubilee leaders had agreed not to field any candidate in upcoming Mt Kenya by-elections until lessons learned from Kiambaa were fully implemented.

According to Wambugu, Tuju was among leaders who agreed with the recommendation, but , he however, chose to ignore it and hand a nomination certification to an aspiring MCA for Kiagu Ward by-election in Meru County.

Wambugu argues that Tuju’s decision to hand the aspirant a nomination certificate means that “he is no longer working in the interests of the Party.”

Wambugu has demanded that Tuju’s decision be immediately rescinded and he be allowed to leave Jubilee Party Headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi.

“…This decision confirms the fact that Hon Raphael Tuju is clearly completely disconnected from the #JubileeBase. It also lends credence to fears that Tuju is no longer working in the interests of the Party.

In this regard and after consultations with those of us who continue to sacrifice #BloodSweatAndTears to revive our party, we have agreed that we will NOT allow #Tuju to deliberately kill our Party. Not while we watch… We also now accept that he #MustResign as Secretary General of the Jubilee Party, and vacate #JubileeHouse. We need someone who understands where we are as a party, and who is connected to the Jubilee support base, as #SG of our Party. Raphael Tuju is NOT that Person,” Wambugu posted.
