The two, a man and a woman, are believed to have been accomplices of the duo that was nabbed by ATPU officers on Monday.

The Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) has lunched a manhunt for two suspected terrorists who evaded arrest during a raid by security agencies at the Likoni Ferry Crossing on August 23, 2021.

The two are believed to have been accomplices of the duo that was nabbed by ATPU officers on Monday.

According to detectives privy to the matter, one of the terror suspects remained in Kwale, from where he would coordinate an attack.

He is reported to be about 28 years and according to the sleuths, he had been arrested in 2018 and tried on terror-related charges. He was, however, freed on bond and the case later throughout due to insufficient evidence.

He was arrested a year later on similar charges but is said to have jumped bail following his release.

According to the detectives, he is believed to have been the leader of the gang, and had organised the group to launch an attack in honour of the late Sheikh Abud Rogo.

Rogo was killed in unknown persons in Mombasa, however, reports alleged that he may have been aiding terrorists.

The second suspect, identified as a bajuni woman, is said to have been with the group that was arrested at the Likoni Ferry Crossing, but evaded arrest after she got out to make a deposit at a mobile money agent.

She managed to escape after police apprehended the two men that had been waiting for her in the car.

ATPU has since revealed that they are tracking her movement and are hoping to nab her soon. The detectives further stated that they will conduct door-to-door searches in Mombasa, Mvita and Kwale with the aim of apprehending local sympathisers of the terror suspects.
