Kalonzo had in January presented himself to the DCI after he was accused by Deputy President William Ruto of grabbing 200 acres of land in Yatta belonging to the National Youth Service (NYS).

The Wiper-Kenya invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the matter.

While refuting the accusation, Kalonzo urged the DCI and the EACC to conduct a lifestyle audit on him and establish his source of wealth.

"I own the land legally, the claim by the Deputy President is outrageous and I challenge him to substantiate his allegations," Kalonzo said at the time.

Orengo had stated that the deputy president had committed the offence of criminal liability by accusing Kalonzo of grabbing NYS land.

"You are not allowed to defame anybody in this country on the basis of falsehoods, lies or incitement. He (DP Ruto) has also committed the offence of uttering false information designed to cause disaffection and hatred," Orengo stated.
