Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto have urged Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) following her statement on raids from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Waiguru on Saturday claimed that after saying she had taken a pause on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and working on a political way forward, the EACC raided her offices.

She mentioned that she also received summons from EACC with allegations of payment of Sh52 million which had not been paid.

The governor went on to question if it was political witch hunt or an attempt to shape the succession politics.

"Last time I said … “on BBI let me keep quiet a bit..” immediately, EACC raided my office… Recently I said am “… introspecting on the political way forward…” and again immediately I get EACC summons complete with all the subtle threatening inflexibilities… and media alerts on an alleged payment of 52m (allocated by County Assembly - for a pending bill that was acquired in 2010, for sub division, allocation and cadastral mapping of over 17,000 acres of South Ngariama Settlement Scheme) and which EACC knows HAS NOT EVEN BEEN PAID! Is it just coincidence, witch-hunt, or the usual attempt to shape narratives for 2022 succession politics?" read her statement.

UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama claimed that the deep state has weaponized the fight against corruption and that's what happened when they realized Waiguru was shifting to UDA.

"The 'WEAPONIZED FIGHT against CORRUPTION' is on another level in this Country. Immediately, @AnneWaiguru's eyes were opened to know the only Party FORMING the next Govt is UDA, Deep state released EACC to HARASS her. AMAZING!" he said.

Soy MP Caleb Kositany asked the Kirinyaga Governor to take the bold step and join the UDA side.

"No situation is permanent, take the bold step," said Kositany.
