Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has said UDA Party affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto, should have joined his team and worked with him ahead of 2022, and not vice versa.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Kuria noted that he was affiliated to the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) way before UDA was formed, adding that since UDA came later, it should have joined his outfit and not the other way round.

“Before I was affiliated with Chama cha Kazi, I had an association with a party called People’s Empowerment Party (PEP). PEP on 15th December 2020 won a civic seat in Murang’a… UDA was formed in its current form in February 2021. I was affiliated with the party way before UDA was formed. In fact, it is UDA who should have joined me. It is not the other way around.

“This discussion is being twisted and being made as if I’m the one who refused to join UDA Party…,” he said.

Addressing his current political status, Kuria who is in California, United States said on paper he is a member of Jubilee, but his affiliation is with Chama Cha Kazi.

He affirmed that he and his party still support DP Ruto’s presidential bid despite the squabbles between UDA and other small parties, regarding the way forward as the 2022 election draws nigh.

During the interview, Kuria also affirmed his early declaration that he will not vie for any seat in 2022, noting that his focus will be on building and managing his political party.

“People take political parties for granted, running a political party is a full-time job,” he opined.
