#KenyaWomenSeries, a weekly initiative that amplifies the voices of women in Kenya by telling their stories has won an international award.

NairobiLeo.co.ke, one of the leading digital publishers in Kenya, partnered with Patience Nyange and Esther Kiragu to publish and amplify the stories. 

The digital website has profiled 39 stories since the series was initiated in 2020. 

Patience Nyange, the visionary behind the #KenyaWomenSeries has been selected for the Voice Achievers Award alongside two other Kenyans.

The Voice Achievers Award is one of the biggest African social events in Central Europe, dedicated to appreciating contributions from sons, daughters, and friends of Africa who through their activities and influence have impacted positively on the lives of Africans.

This year, the Award will recognize and celebrate leaders, best performers, and achievers; identifying and stimulating distinctive innovations in the United Arab Emirates and Africa; encouraging a sustainable growth with business profitability, and providing added value by sharing progress and best practices in the development of Africa.

The series is curated by Patience Nyange, Nancy Marangu, and Esther Kiragu, who is an experienced Editor, Writer, and Communication consultant with 10 years of experience in the media industry.

Each week, the team picks a Kenyan lady to feature, conducts the interview, writes, edits, and picks quotable quotes from the stories to highlight.

Speaking to Nairobileo.co.ke, the Editor of the series Esther Kiragu expressed her excitement at the award.

“I am so thrilled at the news of this award. My greatest joy is that by running the series we are making an impact; changing the mindsets of people about Kenyan Women. Our message is that Kenyan women are incredible, inspiring, a powerhouse and they’re doing a lot to change the world. We are happy to help them hoot their trumpet,” She told this journalist.
