Wanjigi alleged that these leaders have been rattled by the changes he demanded within the party.

Businessman turned politician, Jimmy Wanjigi has issued a warning to a section of ODM officials he is accusing of stifling democracy within the party.

While addressing journalists from the Kisumu International Airport on September 16, Wanjigi stated that some members of the party have been threatened by his decision to contest the presidency on an ODM ticket in 2022.

He further alleged that these leaders have been rattled by the changes he demanded within the party.

Wanjigi is on a four-day tour of Nyanza, where he will visit Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya and Migori counties.

The businessman had demanded that the party reshuffle its leadership, and have leaders elected, rather than appointed.

"We are not going to allow a few officials to undermine the democratic foundation of this party. Wakituchezea tutawafagia wote. Democracy must be upheld," he stated.

"I am confident my party leader does not have the view of those official," he added.

He urged ODM Leader Raila Odinga to check the happenings within the party and assure all persons seeking elective posts in ODM of fair nominations.

Wanjigi warned a section of delegations from attending his meetings in Nyanza.

This comes after reports that the ODM Kisumu branch is intending to boycott his meetings, while advicing party followers not to attend.

Wanjigi told off the critics, maintaining that he is a life member of ODM and needs no permission to tour Nyanza.

The billionaire businessman stated that being able to battle it out for the party flag-bearer with Raila in 2022, is a show of democracy within ODM.
