A man who stabbed his friend to death in Kamagut has been arrested.

In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Elphas Kipkoech and his friend Peter Ekai had gone on a drinking spree when an altercation ensued between them over a job placement.

According to detectives, Ekai accused Kipkoech of plotting to have him dismissed from the security company he worked for so that he could take his position.

Kipkoech denied the allegations but the exchange continued and the two started fighting using sharp objects around them.

“This is after Ekai turned to his friend Kipkoech and accused him of plotting for his downfall, at a local security agency where he worked as a guard. Ekai reportedly told Kipkoech that he had reliably learnt that he wanted him sacked, so that he could replace him at ChapChap security agency.”

“A bitter argument then ensued between the two who were already drunk, with Kipkoech denying the allegations. As the war of words escalated, tempers flared up and they started fighting using sharp objects,” narrated DCI.

It is during the fight that Ekai was stabbed in the chest and was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Kipkoech who had also sustained injuries from the fight was treated and discharged but taken to Eldoret Police station.

He will be charged with murder.

“He was however whisked to Eldoret Police station for processing to answer to murder charges. Crime scene detectives based at Eldoret documented the scene and collected crucial details in relation to the crime,” said DCI.
