DJ Evolve's Mother Dies

The family of Kenyan disk jockey Felix Orinda who is popularly known as DJ Evolve is mourning the death of his mother, Mary Hongo.

Her death was confirmed by her husband John Orinda on Thursday.

Evolve's mother collapsed at her Lucky Summer home in Nairobi on Wednesday and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. She died aged 54.

According to Mr. Orinda, he was at his usual place of work when he received the call that his wife had collapsed and had been rushed to hospital.

DJ Evolve hit the headlines in January 2020 after he was allegedly shot at a popular city club by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.

Following the shooting incident, Babu Owino was taken in and charged with attempted murder.

He was later released on bail pending the hearing and determination of the case.

DJ Evolve was discharged from the hospital in mid-2020 but is yet to fully recover.

The DJ's family, however, agreed to settle the matter out of court despite pressure from the public that the legislator be charged and convicted for attempted murder.
