DCI Accuses Court of Appeal Judge of Planning & Covering Up Tob Cohen's Murder

Court of Appeal Judge, Sankale Ole Kantai has been accused of taking part in the planning and covering up of the murder of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen.

The accusations were made by John Gachomo, a senior assistant Inspector General of Police based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

According to the officer, Sankale and Cohen's widow, Sarah Wairimu held meetings at multiple places to plan the murder of the late billionaire.

In an application to the court, officers from the DCI pointed an accusing finger at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for allegedly sabotaging the case by failing to charge Sankale.

“The DPP can only terminate criminal proceedings instituted by his office and not criminal investigations being undertaken by DCI while exercising its constitutional mandate,” the court papers read in part.

The sleuths further alleged that the ODPP failed to communicate the missing evidence in the charge file presented to them against the COA judge.

According to the DCI, the late tycoon was unaware, Justice Sankale transferred Silas Itas’ share to himself and later to Wairimu.

“That investigations further revealed that Cohen never instructed the judge to act for him or his company, hence transfer of the said share was unknown to Cohen,” the court documents say.

The detectives argued that Cohen was killed within two days of establishing the relationship between the judge and his wife.

The discovery of this fraud is the motive of the death of Tob Cohen,” the court papers stated.

The DCI alleged that Sankale and Wairimu upped communication between July 17 and 19, 2019, a time when Cohen was expected to respond to the registrar of companies.

“The petitioner portrays the late Tob Cohen as a client and close confidant who entrusted him with a share in his investment yet investigation by DCI found no evidence of contact or association between the petitioner and the Cohen,” the court papers read.

The DCI allege that Sankale was involved in attempting to transfer Cohen's shares to Wairimu, whom they say had an affair with the judge.
