Kisumu County Woman Rep Rozaah Buyu has vowed to take unspecified action against Garissa Town MP over his ‘I’m not your boyfriend’ remark targeted towards her during a recent Parliament session.
Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, Buyu noted that she was not satisfied by Duale’s apology and vowed to take further action, though she did not get into specifics.
According to her, this is not the first time Duale is attacking female legislators in the House, adding that her colleagues Esther Passaris and Millie Odhiambo have suffered the same fate.
“This not the first time this is happening. If you are discussing a national issue how does the issue of girlfriend and boyfriend come in?... That is a way of intimidating female leaders… It’s not the first time that happened, he’s done the same to Passaris, Millie… Every time a female legislator gets up when he is speaking, that’s the language he always uses.
“I’m not satisfied and I’m going to take it up because even when he says let me apologise, he does not apologise,” Buyu said.

Last week, while discussing the issue of insecurity in Marsabit, Duale had a heated exchange with Buyu after the latter rose on a point of order as he was addressing the house.
“I really want to ask this house, those of us who don’t come from Northern Kenya, please don’t play party politics. You come from the lake, you come from the mountain, you come from the rift you don’t know what is happening in the North,” Duale said.
As he was making the remark, Buyu interjected and said “Marsabit is part of Kenya”, but an angry Duale shouted back, telling her to shut up.
“No Honorable, you know you eat fish, we eat carmel. Don’t shout at me, I’m not your boyfriend, don’t shout at me. Shame on you! I’m not your boyfriend, shame on you and sit down, Madam Speaker you must protect me, I’m a ranking member,” Duale said in response to Buyu’s remarks.
Angered by Duale’s remarks, Buyu rose on a point of order and sought to know whether it was right for Duale to make the above remarks.
“Is the Honorable Member in order to suggest that Rozaah Buyu wants him to be her boyfriend,” she said.
Reacting to Buyu’s point of order, Duale noted that he does not need a girlfriend in or outside Parliament.
“She should shut up! She does not qualify to be my girlfriend,” Duale said.
