Malawi President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera arrived in Kenya on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations to be held at Wanguru stadium in Kirinyaga County. 

President Chakwera will be the chief guest at this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations. 

"His Excellency Hon.  Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi has arrived in Nairobi for a three-day State Visit of the Republic of Kenya. 

"The Malawi Head of State, who is accompanied by First Lady Mrs Monica Chakwera, will be the Chief Guest at this year's Mashujaa/Heroes Day celebrations at Wang'uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday, 20th October 2021," State House said. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the celebrations alongside his Deputy President William Ruto. 


Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho

In an update by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho on Tuesday, preparations for Mashujaa day celebrations slated for tomorrow are ready. 

According to the Interior PS, Kibicho gates will open at 5 am, and invited guests are expected to be seated by latest 7:30 am.

There will be strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols, and only 3000 guests will be allowed access to the stadium.
