Kenyans turned up in large numbers for Mashujaa Day celebrations in Wang'uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. 

A section of Kenyans braved the cold and heavy downpour to arrive at Wang'uru Stadium as early as 5 am. 3000 invited guests will grace the celebrations today. 

Malawi President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera will be the chief guest at this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations. 


President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the nation in marking the event. 

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said on Tuesday that gates would open at 5: 00 am and invited guests were expected to be seated by latest 7:30 am.

Among the guests who have been spotted at the stadium include Ben Githae, Ferdinand Omanyala, Speaker Justin Muturi, PS Karanja Kibicho, Jose Gatutura, Samidoh, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Chief Justice Martha Koome, and Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri. 

Speaking to the press inside the stadium Ferdinand Omanyala said, "I feel great to be identified as a shujaa & I would like to encourage young people never to give up & lose hope in life."
