Due the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s marathon has been divided into two sections; a virtual race and a physical race.

To participate in the physical race, you have to show proof that you’ve at least received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or proof that you were tested 72 hours before the race.

The first edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon was held in 2003, and ever since, the race has grown tremendously, earning recognition from World Athletics and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AMS).

So far, 17 editions have been held attracting a total of over 250,000 participants. Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is currently the largest single-day sporting event in Kenya.
