The government has released a memo reminding civil servants to adhere to a directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding wearing of Made in Kenya attires on Friday.
In 2019, President Kenyatta directed all civil servants to wear smart casual made in Kenya attires on Fridays, as part of attaining the Big 4 agenda on manufacturing.
“Pursuant to the achievement of the Big 4 Agenda and specifically the expansion of Manufacturing Pillar by producing better goods and creating local employment, I direct that all members of staff shall on all Fridays be dressed in decent, smart casual Kenyan produced and tailored attire,” the circular signed by Solicitor General Ken Ogeto read in part.
In a bid to ensure that the directive is adhered to by all civil servants, the government has released a new memo reminding public servants that the directive is part of their target for this financial year.

“Pursuant to the presidential directive through order circular dated 17th October, 2019, all civil servants were directed to be dressed in decent, smart casual Kenyan produced and tailored attire on Fridays. This has also been included in the performance contract as one of the targets for the FY 2021/22.
“The purpose of this memo therefore is to request you to remind all staff under you to adhere to this directive,” the memo read in part.
