Fred Gumo’s Abducted Sister-in-law & Her Driver Set Free

The family of former Westlands MP Fred Gumo has confirmed that their abducted kin has been set free and is back at home.

According to the family, Jacinter Bwire, sister in-law to Gumo and her driver who were abducted on Thursday in Nairobi are fine and back at home.

It is still, however, not clear who allegedly abducted them and the motive behind the alleged abduction.

The two were allegedly kidnapped by armed men outside Gumo’s home in Nairobi’s Muthaiga Estate.

According to media reports, Gumo’s sister in law and the driver were reportedly waiting for the gate to be opened when the attack occurred.

With their safe return, police are now hoping to get credible information that could lead help establish motive of the alleged kidnapping and lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

The abduction had caused anxiety and panic in the ex-legislators home, with members wondering the motive of the attack.

Prior to the incident, Fred Gumo; a veteran politician in the country had been off the media completely even as campaigns take shape ahead of 2022.

Gumo served as Member of Parliament for Westlands Constituency from 1994 to 2013.

Gumo also served as Minister for Regional Development during the Grand Coalition government. He also served as Acting Minister for Local Government following the resignation of Musalia Mudavadi in 2012.
