The Ministry of Education has re-introduced mid-term breaks for secondary schools. 

The Ministry of Education has re-introduced mid-term breaks for secondary schools following students unrest. 

In a circular dated 1st, November 2021, the Government stated that students would proceed on a break from November 19 to 23 2021.

"It has been decided that half term break will commence on Friday,19th November 2021. The students will report back on Tuesday 23rd, November 2021," part of the circular read.

In the last two months, Kenya has witnessed an increasing trend of arson attacks in secondary schools. 

In one of the recent horrific fire incidents in schools, students at Buruburu Girls were forced to jump from the first and second floors of a blazing dormitory.

Other institutions that have experienced fires include Chavakali Boys in Vihiga county, Sigalame Boys High School, Moi Girls Marsabit, Kabarak High School, and Gendia Secondary School.

Most arson cases have occurred in boarding schools.
