Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir on Saturday evening lost four members of his staff in a tragic road accident in Lamu.

The four were part of MP Shariff's media team.

"We are saddened to learn of the death of 4 members of Hon. @A_S_Nassir team namely Ali Omar Naaman, Ms. Carol Wayua Mueni, Athman Mohammed Omar & Elysian Musyoka through a tragic road accident this evening. We pray for the families of the deceased during this difficult time," said ODM.

Reports indicate that the vehicle the team was traveling in to Lamu rolled after a tyre burst killing the four.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho also sent a message of condolence to the families of the four as he prayed for comfort during this difficult time.

"I extend my profound condolences and heartfelt sympathies to their families and Hon. Abdullswamad Shariff Nassir for this devastating loss. May the Almighty Allah SWT assuage your grief and grant you strength and patience to endure this calamity."

The accident came hours to the beginning of ODM leader Raila Odinga's three day tour of Lamu county where he is expected to hold consultations on his Azimio la Umoja unity call.
