Former Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale has discouraged Narc-Kenya Leader Martha Karua against contesting for the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections.

Speaking on Thursday, Khalwale noted that Martha Karua is a national leader, adding that she has started degrading herself by focusing and mostly addressing issues regarding Mt Keya people.

“I’m starting to see like Martha is changing. It is not the Martha that many of us have worked with. It is not the Martha that many people admire. She is starting to change…When I see Martha starting to speak only about the people of Mt Kenya, she is changing, she must go back to the old Martha who was running for President.

“I want to request Martha to reconsider and go back to the original model that we all believe she is. I wouldn’t advice that Martha should be running for Governor of Kirinyaga, I would love Martha to jostle out to either become president or running mate. She is better cut for that kind of person than the politics she is pushing,” Khalwale said in part.

Meanwhile, Karua has maintained that in the 2022 election, she is keen on serving Kirinyaga people, even though she has future intentions of being the President of Kenya.

“Niliwania ugavana 2017, nikapata na nikapokonywa na nasema wazi naweza taka kuwania urais katika siku za usoni lakini kwa sasa nataka kutumikia wakazi wa Kirinyaga,” she said during a recent interview with Radio Citizen.

Her remarks came after Gatundu South MP Moses Kurua endorsed her for the position of Deputy President come 2022, arguing that she has what it takes to serve in that position.

“I want to endorse Martha Karua for the position of Deputy President, she has integrity, she has the stamina, she has the record, she has a clear sterling record as a crusader for both multipartism and human rights, for the defense of the Constitution…,” he said in part.

Karua is currently the Spokesperson of the Mt Kenya Unity Forum (MKUF) that brings together; Narc-Kenya, Chama Cha Kazi and Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party (TSP).

MKUF is yet to announce who they will support as their presidential candidate in the 2022 general election.
