Justice Anthony Mrima has now alleged that he has received threats from state agents for issuing rulings against government officers.

While sentencing Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti on Thursday, November 18, 2021, Justice Mrima said that he was threatened for issuing non-favourable orders.

The High Court judge sentenced DCI Kinoti to four months at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.

“Recently I handled a matter and issued some orders. The orders were directed towards some senior state officers. I was surprised to be approached by an emissary sent by one of the said state officers,” Justice Mrima said.

Though he did not reveal what case it was, he noted that the emissary made it clear to him that he should stop issuing the orders they termed as 'unfavourable'.

Mrima says the message did not end there as he was further informed that if he did not heed the warning, he would be dealt with firmly using many other processes at their disposal.

“I am not new to such threats and actual acts of violence against me,” he said.

The High Court Judge added that during the 2017 elections, he handled a petition where several emissaries were sent to him with instructions on how he was to determine the election petition.
