Kirinyaga County Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri has accused her boss Governor Anne Waiguru of reneging on the pre-election agreement they sealed before the 2017 general elections.

Ndambiri, who spoke to a local TV on Monday, November 22, revealed that Governor Waiguru was to occupy the seat for one term and support him in the 2022 polls.

"We agreed with Governor Anne Waiguru in 2017 that she would be the county boss for one term and then let me occupy the seat in the next tenure. But after getting into the office she has opted to seek re-election," Ndambiri said.

Ndambiri, who has fallen out with Governor Waiguru, said he might challenge Governor Waiguru in the 2022 polls considering that he is now better placed to win the seat than he was in 2017.

"Governor Waiguru is forgetting that I am now strong politically to clinch the seat. I now have the power and influence to do so because in 2017 I had nothing, not even a job," he added.

Governor Waiguru and her deputy have been embroiled in a protracted war of words, for nearly a half-period of their leadership tenure, with the latter accusing the former of corruption.

A few weeks ago when reports emerged that Governor Waiguru could face arrest over corruption allegations, Ndambiri weighed in on the development and told the Governor to be accountable.

The arrest reports emerged barely a week after she had decamped to Deputy President William Ruto's camp

He told her off for saying her woes are politically instigated adding that investigations into the mismanagement of the funds in the county began months before she moved to DP Ruto-led UDA party.

Ndambiri is yet to make public whether he will be in the race to oust his boss.

Waiguru is so far facing fierce competition from Woman Rep Purity Ngirici who she will have to battle with for the UDA party ticket in the primaries.
