The firearms saga involving DCI boss George Kinoti and billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has taken a new twist after a man claiming to be the presidential aspirant's friend emerged alleging that he had negotiated an out-of-court settlement for Wanjigi to collect his guns at the Firearms Bureau.
The man since identified as Michael Kibutha claimed that he had been directed by Wanjigi to collect the seven guns from the DCI. However, Wanjigi has since refuted the allegations.
Kibutha says that he visited the DCI offices with a letter allegedly written by Wanjigi to negotiate for the release of the firearms.
DCI Kinoti informed Kibutha that the guns were not with him but with the Firearms Licensing Board and that Wanjigi would be allowed to repossess them after producing a court order.
Wanjigi’s lawyer petitioned the Firearms Licensing Board to renew the businessman’s license and facilitate the return of his weapons.
According to reports, Otieno Ogola advocates allegedly held briefs for Wanjigi.
The businessman is, however, yet to clarify his relationship with Micheal Kibutha, instead insisted that DCI Kinoti be imprisoned for contempt of court.

Kinoti has since argued that the guns are not in his custody and should be accessed from the Firearms Bureau.
