Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of intimidating her team, over Deputy President William Ruto’s expected visit to the county.
In a statement on Twitter, Waiguru claimed that the Kirinyaga DCI boss has summoned some of her team members for interrogation, ahead of the DP’s visit.
She went on to say that whoever is behind it should stop using security forces to intimidate her team.
“The DCIO Kianyaga is now summoning my team to interrogate them before DP @WilliamsRuto visit to Kirinyaga. Please stop intimidating my team using security forces. #ChamaNiUDA #HustlerNation #FormNiHustler #MpangoNiBottomUp,” read her tweet.
On Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto is expected to visit Kirinyaga to drum up support for his bid for the country's top seat.

The DP is expected to be welcomed by the Kirinyaga governor who officially ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Waiguru joined UDA slightly over a month ago and has been going around the country with the DP as they popularize the party.
Before teaming up with the DP, the governor in an interview with Citizen TV said that Jubilee had lost ground and defending her seat with the ticket would be difficult, despite performing well on her first term as county boss.
She went on to say that she would listen to her people and head the direction they will ask her to follow.
“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed, it would be hard to convince them to vote for me,” Waiguru said.
