One of the 3 terror convicts who recently escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison has vowed to escape again if he gets a chance to do so.

Speaking on Monday when they were presented at the Kahawa Law Courts, Musharraf Abdalla Akhulunga alias Zarkarawi said they escaped to save their lives and not to commit any terror related activities.

He claimed that there is a bad perception about reformed terror convicts, adding that they are afraid they may be executed by agents of the anti-terror unit after exhausting their prison term.

It is for this reason that Musharraf noted that if another opportunity for him to escape comes his way, he will cease it.

Additionally, he told the court that after their escape, they were heading to Ethiopia and not Somalia as reported in the media. According to him, they were caught because of fatigue and having exhausted all the food they had acquired.

“We were arrested because we became frail after exhausting all the food we had. We were heading to Ethiopia. We were in search of our safety and freedom because there is no need of exhausting your jail term and later police hand you over to anti-terrorism police for execution,” Musharraf was quoted by Nation.

The three were sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison each for escape from Kamiti. They are expected to be taken to a different prison after they expressed fear that their lives may be in danger if they return to Kamiti.
