On Sunday, Maranda High School was yet again on fire a few weeks after another incident was reported.

The fire incident comes days after about 400 form four students were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for their mock examinations.

The students had allegedly written the threats on walls of toilets, expressing their contempt over the mock exams.

Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing after Firefighters from Siaya County were called in to try put out the blaze.

No casualty has been reported.

On November 8, 2021, another fire razed a dormitory housing 200 students. 

Six students were arrested in connection to the November 8, incident and detained at the Bondo Sub County police station.

This comes despite warning from the Ministry of Education and security agencies that those found culpable of the fires will be charged.
