Murathe says for one to be President of Kenya, he or she must be the leader of official opposition; something that DP Ruto is yet to be.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has continued with his onslaught against Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at Uhuru Gardens ahead of Jamhuri Day celebrations this Sunday, December 12, the controversial Jubilee leader maintained that DP Ruto can't be the President in the 2022 election.

Jamuhuri Day is used to mark the day Kenya attained independence.

Murathe says for one to be President, he must first be the leader of official opposition; something that the DP is yet to be.

"My friend, no one has ever become the President in this republic until you have become the leader of the official opposition.

Here is the video courtesy of Citizen TV:

"Uhuru was the leader of the opposition, Kibaki was one, Moi was also the leader of the opposition when he was in KADU. Even Raila has been one. Nobody can be President of Kenya without being the leader of the opposition," he said.

The Jubilee Vice-Chair further challenged Kenyans to brace themselves for two options; either DP Ruto or the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Murathe maintained that they will continue rooting for the ODM leader's presidential bid because they believe is better placed to change the lives of Kenyans.

The Jubilee MP was one of the leaders who graced the 58th Jamuhuri day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.

President Uhuru Kenyatta led the country in the celebrations. DP Ruto and  Raila were also present.
