Senator Kihika, a scion of the powerful Moi-era politician Kimani Kihika, has denied being a dynasty.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has dismissed reports labelling her a dynasty because of his father's political history.

The Senator, who is a scion to a former influential politician the late Kihika Kimani who ruled during the late President Daniel Moi's era, has exonerated herself from the dynasty narrative saying she is not fit for that.

Mr Kihika died in 2004 and had 41 children.

Senator Kihika's statement came after a social media user identified as Dan Nyagah castigated those imposing the dynasty narrative on her.

"Kihika kimani was not a dynasty. QASSIM followers should spare us their nonsense which they are directing towards Susan Kihika. I am with senator Susan Kihika, mzee QASSIM should stop storytelling and useless history. Let him sell his agenda," he tweeted.

Qassim is a moniker imposed on Raila after his supporters labelled DP Ruto Ali Baba.

The tweet saw Senator Kihika nod in agreement even as she challenged the ODM leader Raila Odinga to come clean on his role in the attempted coup of 1982.

"Agreed. No FAKE history. Otherwise, let Kitendawili tell us how he LED a COUP to Overthrow Moi’s democratically elected Govt in 1982 and even bragged about it in a book. Not edited, self-serving history but the REAL History," she stated.

Senator Kihika has been shoving off the dynasty tag even as her opponents appear determined to put her in that class based on her father's political influence during his heydays.

The Senator, who is eyeing Nakuru gubernatorial seat, has found herself in a confusing situation given that the 2022 race has been fashioned as a battle between the dynasty and hustlers.

Dynasty is a phrase used to identify those whose fathers occupied powerful positions in Government and had huge political capital while hustlers are those who made their political capital without the influence of their parents.

Raila, being the son of Kenya's first vice president, has been labelled a dynasty while DP William Ruto whose father appears nowhere in the country's political history identifies himself as a hustler.

Senator Kihika is one of the DP Ruto's ardent stalwarts.

It is in that backdrop that a section of Kenyans have been lashing out at her saying she is not a hustler since she shot into the political limelight thanks to her father's rich history.
