Ngunyi says that those behind Itumbi's kidnapping and torture are the ones reaping political benefits.

Political analyst and commentator Mutahi Ngunyi has weighed in on the alleged abduction and torture of DP William Ruto's digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.

In a statement on his Twitter handle, hours after Itumbi was reported found, Ngunyi said those behind his alleged abduction and torture are close to him.

He appeared to suggest that his disappearance and subsequent torture is a scheme to reap sympathy and political benefits insinuating that the UDA party had a hand in it.

"On the matter of Dennis Itumbi versus The republic, we must pose the Qui Bono Question: Who benefits? The biggest beneficiary is responsible for injuries caused on this Son of the Soil. UDA. Iko Swali?" he posed.

His remarks came after Itumbi was reported found abandoned by his captors at Lucky Summer, Nairobi.

The blogger is said to have been found nearly naked and beaten to a pulp.

He was rushed by good samaritans to the nearest medical centre where he was attended to before being rushed to a different hospital within the city of Nairobi.

Images of him at the hospital shows that he suffered multiple fractures on his hand and legs.

His left eye appeared to have been injured too.

Itumbi was reportedly abducted by three people in Thindigua area along Kiambu Road while on his way out of a barbershop.

The identified men are alleged to be police officers by allies of DP Ruto.
