Atwoli said he had accessed phone conversations of section leaders who were plotting to interfere with his meeting.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi have fired at each other over remarks made by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

Atwoli, while inspecting the progress of preparations for his Bukhungu ll declaration scheduled for Friday, December 31, said he had accessed phone conversations of section leaders who were plotting to interfere with his meeting.

The remarks got the attention of Ahmednasir who questioned how Atwoli could access people's private communication without the backing of the law.

"Mzee Atwoli says @SafaricomPLC has given him unhindered access to intercept private communication in breach of Article 31 of the Constitution.

"Can @Safaricom_Care confirm that our telephone lines are secure? Can @CADirectorGen tell KENYANS 'In whose hands are our telephones safe?'" Ahmednasir posed.

It is then that the Narok Senator weighed in in defence of Atwoli saying he had not mentioned Safaricom anywhere.

He accused the Lawyer of defamation for interpreting the COTU boss remarks wrongly.

"Now Abti where did Mzee Atwoli name Safaricom? Kenyan politics players and cheerleaders have enrolled in the school of slandering!!! The award ceremony will be announced soon and the nominees are?" he posed hinting that Ahmednasir as the first on the list.

The City Lawyer did not hesitate to fire back dismissing the Senator's remarks and went on to explain his point.

"First, learn the difference between slander & defamation. Second, Atwoli expressly states that he has the telephone conversations of many Luhya politicians talking to other Kenyans.

"Third, 90% of Kenyans have Safaricom lines. Four, last time I checked Atwoli wasn't domiciled in Narok," he responded.

The exchange of words between the two left Kenyans talking with some cheering them on.
