"Spend time with Comrade DI last evening, saw his heavily bandaged arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all. They have now turned violent & fatalistic after all the negative narratives, threats, and blackmail against us failed," Ruto stated.

"They wanted to kill his spirit, but DI is strong and in very high spirits though doctors say he will be confined to bed for a month. Like Denis, we all must be strong, knowing that in a few months, we will defeat impunity, entitlement, kiburi na madharau, and free our nation for good."

Additionally, the DP issued a message to his compatriot wishing him a quick recovery a few minutes after visiting him.

Itumbi was allegedly abducted on Thursday last week along Kiambu road and beaten up before being abandoned naked on the roadside in the Kasarani area, Nairobi.

Reports indicated that he was first rushed to Neema hospital for first aid before being transferred to Nairobi West hospital.

He had injuries on most of his body parts when he was found naked by a taxi driver in the Lucky Summer area, Kasarani, Nairobi.

According to a statement issued by NPS Spokesperson Bruno Isohi Shioso, police launched investigations into the incident.

"A report of alleged abduction of Mr. Dennis Itumbi was reported at Thindingua Police Station Post vide OB 10/23/12/2021 AT 1540 HRS. Police have since launched investigations with a view to the circumstances surrounding this incident," the Police spokesperson stated.
