The Al Shabaab attackers also touched several houses.

Six people have lost their lives following an Al Shabaab attack in the Widhu Majembeni area in Lamu County.

A report by Citizen TV says the attackers also touched several houses.

Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia confirmed the incident and said they are pursuing the attackers.

One of the victims was shot dead, another hacked to death.

The four others were burnt to death in their house, police and survivors said.

The attacks are said to have been expected given that a group of attackers had been spotted in the larger Boni forest before the attack.

The incident has caused panic among residents who are now living in fear.

Bomb experts who visited the scene told the Star that the technology used was different to the existing ones.

“They used a bomb that explodes on the pressure as opposed to the usual one of using wires and timers. This is a concern for all,” said an expert aware of the incident.

Several multi-agency teams have been deployed to handle the situation.
