EPRA Releases Lists Stations Selling Adulterated fuel Across the Country

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has released a list of petrol stations across the county that are selling illegal fuels.

The illegality of their operations has been classified into two including sell of adulterated fuel and that made for export.

"A total of 19 stations have been found to have failed to comply with EPRA directive."During the period October - December 2021, a total of 5,242 tests were conducted at 1,100 Petroleum sites. "From the tests, 98.27% of the sites were found to be compliant. However, tests from Nineteen (19) sites turned out to be non-compliant," EPRA said in a statement.

According to EPRA Machakos county leads with three stations for non-compliant, Homa Bay 2, Migori 2, Kisumu 1, Nandi 1, Nakuru 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Kilifi 1, Vihiga 1, Marsabit 1, Kiambu 1, Makueni 1, Embu 1 and  Kitui 1.

All three stations in Machakos were found selling Diesel fuel meant for export. The three include Ombac Filling Station operating in Joska, Kamburu Service Station operating in Masinga and Peak Oil Limited Filling Station also operating in Masinga.

Petrol stations listed as non-compliant in Kisumu (Jabura Filling Station, Kibos), Nakuru (Sidex Filling Station, Tabuga), Migori (In God We Trust Filling Station, Othoo), Kitui (Mitango Filling Station, Nguni) and Nandi (Chebarbar Filling Station, Chebarbar) were selling Diesel fuel meant for export.

Petrol Stations in Wajir(Al- Marshidy Filling Station, Wajir) and Embu (Yemen Filling Station, Kiritiri) were selling fuel containing high sulphur.
