  • His family confirmed the news as other Ward Reps congregated at the hospital

Hell’s Gate Member of the County Assembly John Njuguna also known as Wa Sussy has succumbed to COVID-19 complications.

His family confirmed the demise of the Ward Rep on Monday afternoon.

Until his demise, Mr Njuguna had been receiving treatment at the Nakuru Nursing home.

The first-time MCA was reportedly on life-support. Nakuru County MCA’s, friends and family congregated at the facility on Monday afternoon after his death was reported.

His body was moved to the Umash Funeral Home within the town.

This comes barely a day after Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui raised concern over the escalation in the spread of COVID-19 infections in rural areas in the county.

He said they have witnessed an increase in cases in Olenguruone and Subukia sub-counties that are far-flung from the main commercial centres.

The county boss urged residents to remain vigilant and uphold the Ministry of Health guidelines on prevention.

He said the county will work through the community health workers network to raise awareness among vulnerable groups.
