In the video, the MP is seen pushing the female Sergeant from where she was trying to restore order

Video of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri manhandling a female sergeant-at-arms at the National Assembly has emerged.

In the video, the MP is seen pushing the female Sergeant from where she was trying to restore order among the fighting MPs.

The act resulted in a push and pull between the MP and the female Sergeant who is seen wearing a hijab.

The Sergent is seen retaliating as she grabs the MPs face mask in a confrontation that forced other sergeants to intervene. The video ends as the push and pulls continues.

Kenyans on social media who had seen the video blasted the MPs for the act saying he acted dishonorably.

"We can conduct business in parliament without this chaos. Kimani Ngunjiri and I know it's all about persuasion. We are setting a bad precedent as MPs by fighting colleagues," Borabu MP Ben Momanyi reacted to the incident.

Prof Allan Obare on his part said: "why is Kimani Ngunjiri manhandling the security lady in parliament? It is so wrong. Unbelievable!".

ODM's Director of Communications Philip Etale said: "shame as Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri attacks a Lady Sergeant-At-Arms in Parliament".

The incident happened at a time when allies of Deputy President William Ruto brought the business at the National Assembly to a standstill during the debate on the Political Parties Amendment Bill, 2021.

The MPs engaged in a cat and mouse game in a bid to slow down the debate and approval of the bill Tha was highly supported by MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The bill was passed at the National assembly and is headed to the Senate where a similar drama and showdown is expected.
