Hot on the heels of reports of disintegration in One Kenya Alliance (OKA), it is emerging that a section of his allies now want him to back the ODM leader Raila Odinga for the top seat.

A report by the Star has exposed the behind the scene fight pushing the former vice president to quit the one Kenya Alliance and join Raila or Deputy President William Ruto.

According to a source that spoke to the publication, the Saturday meeting which Kalonzo has scheduled at his Yatta home will be used to convince Kalonzo to back down from his presidential bid and negotiate for the DP’s seat with one of the leading Presidential contenders.

"I think we are wasting time with Oka. The longer we take to cut deal with Raila the more difficult things will become for us," a close confidant to the Star.

Others say that the Saturday meeting will strictly address the political future of the Kamba nation include Kalonzo's fate in the forthcoming polls.

Kalonzo has worked with the ODM leader Raila Odinga in the last two elections which they lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto.

With the push seeking to have him join Raila now on course, chances of the former vice President being an automatic running mate of Raila become questionable given that the ODM chief is reportedly being pushed to pick a Deputy from the Mt Kenya region.

The developments come even as ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is allegedly planning to bolt out of OKA during his NDC meeting scheduled for January 23.

Speculations have it that while Kalonzo’s camp believes that Mudavadi has a deal with Raila, Mudavadi is behind the curtains working Ruto.

This mistrust has threatened the existence of OKA considering that opinion polls indicate that the outfit may fail terribly if it reaches the polls together considering that its principals enjoy minimum support of Kenyans.
