Two murder fugitives arrested last Wednesday in Kenya's Kilimani area in Nairobi have been deported.

The two Mohamud Siyad Abdihakim,24 and Monteiro Tariq Kennedy Mangal, 21, both British nationals, were extradited to face trial.

The two were arrested by Transnational and Organized Crimes detectives in Kilimani, following intelligence leads.

An international arrest warrant had been issued against them for the brutal murder of a 16-year-old boy identified as Alex Smith, from Wembley, in northwest London.

"Smith was attacked on August 12, 2019, in Munster Square, by a rival group of six men who were driving in two stolen vehicles, a Ford Fiesta and a Seat Leon. He was stabbed at least twice in the chest before the attackers took flight," a statement by DCI boss George Kinoti said.

Metropolitan police have been pursuing the suspects since they committed the offence.

One of the suspects is believed to have committed the actual stabbing while his accomplice was driving one of the stolen cars.

It is after the incident that the two flew to Kenya where they pitched a tent in Nairobi's upmarket Kilimani suburbs to avoid escape from justice.

During the arrest, Tariq was found in possession of a Somali identification card in the name of Abdulahi Abshir Mohamed and a dagger.

Two other men identified as Yusuf Yusuf and Arif Biomy who were linked to the murder are already serving their sentences in the U.K for their role in the murder.
