Sonko said the woman only transferred Sh17,000 from his M-Pesa after he gave her the pin while at his club.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has dismissed reports that a man who lost Sh596,000 was robbed at their business premises.

According to Sonko, the man indeed visited their high-end establishment and had drinks with the woman but they left while his properties were intact.

"We would like to categorically state that the incident never happened within our premises but possibly happened after the said client and his culprits left the club.

"We have a trained, disciplined and reliable security team that consists of both men and women who thoroughly search and screen customers," Sonko said.

"We've been able to obtain the Mpesa statement of the victim and it confirms the amount of money transferred from his Mpesa account by the lady after he willingly gave her the Mpesa pin was ksh.17,000 and not the figure quoted ksh. 596,000 in social media," Sonko added

The former Governor revealed that the Victim has identified the woman from the CCTV footage they replayed to him. Sonko said they will help detectives in having her arrested.

"Whereas the club is liable for ensuring security for all customers, we always encourage personal responsibility in self-conduct and engagement within the club. We do not compromise our client's choice to dictate on who they want to share joyful moments with," he stated.

This comes after the DCI released a statement of how the man was robbed at an apartment after his drink was laced with a stupefying substance after a night out with a woman.

The man, who was on a business trip in Mombasa was having a drink at Volume VIP club in Mombasa, owned by Sonko, when he met the woman only identified as Wambui.

The two had chats and enjoyed several bottles of drinks before they decided to walk out and go to an apartment the man had booked to spend a night there.

It is there, DCI say, that the woman laced his drink with stupefying substance resulting to his passing out as the woman swept his bank accounts clean.
