President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally broken his silence on why he fell out with his deputy William Ruto.

According to a section of Jubilee loyalists who attended the Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting at State House, the President fell out with DP Ruto because of his early campaigns.

“He (President) told us...Ruto refused to listen to him, to first put politics aside and work for the people of Kenya, and he decided to concentrate on campaigns. I remember the meeting where the President asked all of us to abandon politics,” MP Kanini Kega as quoted by Nation.

The President hit out at his Deputy for premature campaigns stating, "This is a marathon, and in a marathon, one has to know at which point to sprint."

President Kenyatta said that the party had been working after they were elected in 2017 adding that there was no time for premature campaigns.

"If anyone asks you where Jubilee had been in the near past, just tell them we had gone to work to serve Kenyans," Kenyatta told the jubilee elected leaders and officials.

The Jubilee party also announced that it would not field a presidential candidate in the August general elections.

Reports indicate that Jubilee will produce Raila Odinga's running mate Azimio La Umoja.

According to the statement issued by Jubilee on Friday evening, the party will now embark on a vigorous campaign that will ensure the party emerges majority at Council of Governors (CoG), National Assembly, and Senate.

After the fall out of the two, DP Ruto and his allies formed UDA which they have been popularizing across the country and the bottom-up economic model.

DP Ruto recently hit out at Kenyatta accusing him of imposing Raila on people.

"The president should be told the Odinga project is impossible. Raila destroyed Jubilee and sabotaged the Big Four Agenda. His track record is highly destructive. Since the handshake, many things have gone wrong. We have gone at a loss as a country because of Raila’s interference with the running of the government,” said the Deputy President.
