Four people died on Thursday after a vehicle they were travelling in hit an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sangailu, Garissa county. 

The vehicle had 6 occupants onboard travelling from Masalani to Holugho when the Thursday morning incident happened. Police have confirmed the incident.

This comes a week after 13 people died in a similar attack in Arabia, Mandera county. 

The matatu was heading to Mandera town when the tragedy occurred. 

The North-Eastern part of Kenya has borne the brunt of insecurity that has been occasioned by Al-Shabaab militants.

IED has been a common form of attack targeting police vehicles carrying out patrols.

The incident comes a few days after France, Germany and the US issued security alerts to its citizens living in Kenya.
