"They shamelessly do it every election cycle at the expense of development," Muthama said.

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has weighed in on reports that Wiper leader Kalonzio Musyoka received Sh3bn to join the Azimio La Umoja movement.

In a statement on his Twitter handle on Monday, Muthama said the claims are true.

He added that the Wiper leader has a penchant for receiving such money to sell the Kamba community every electioneering period.

"The Claim by South Eastern Governors that WIPER leadership got Ksh. 3B bribe to sell Kamba Community to Azimio La Umoja outfit is true. They shamelessly do it every election cycle at the expense of development for their people," he said.

Muthama further stated that the Kamba region should now learn from its mistakes of the past and ditch the Wiper camp for the UDA party.

He said the UDA party has the best ideals that will transform the country's economic fortunes even as he labelled other outfits as "political merchants".

"It's high time Kambas shun such political outfits and join @UDAKenya the only party whose pivotal focus is to uplift everyone thro' the Bottom-up approach. Other parties are just political merchants out to benefit during this campaign period," he stated.

Claims that Kalonzo received Sh3bn to join Azimio were made by Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) on Sunday.

The leaders were expressing their support for the Azimio La Umoja movement when they made the remarks.

They said they will lead the region to Raila's camp.
