The two have been, married for decades and their successful marriage has faced ups and downs.

It is because of resilience at the time of challenges that Raila, a man who has faced difficult times in politics, saw it wise to publicly remind Ida how special she has been, she is and will be on this Valentine Day.

"My darling, without you, my life would be meaningless. I celebrate you today tomorrow and every single day I breathe," Raila said.

The ODM leader faced detention and was forced to go to exile some years back during the fight for multiparty democracy and it is his wife Ida that stood with family and guided it.

Their marriage was blessed with four children; two girls and 2 boys.

The Eldest son Fidel Odinga is deceased.

Other children include Raila Odinga Junior, Winnie Odinga and Rosemary Odinga.
