A poll by Trends For Insights Africa (TIFA) has put the DP on the front with 38 per cent.

Deputy President William Ruto has maintained his lead as the top presidential contender in the August 9, elections.

A poll by Trends For Insights Africa (TIFA) has put the DP on the front with 38 per cent.

The DP is followed closely by ODM leader Raila Odinga who came in second with 27 per cent.

The third presidential contender is Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who had 2 per cent followed by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi with 1 per cent.

Others shared 2 per cent while 20 per cent of the respondent have not decided who to support.

According to TIFA, Raila was 8 per cent then rose to 23 per cent and now 27 per cent while Ruto was 39 per cent and has now stagnated at 38 per cent in the last two polls. The polls were held in June 2021, November 2021 and February 22.

The poll at the same time indicated that ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi who joined the DP recently is the most preferred running mate of Ruto.

Mudavadi had 27 per cent, followed by Governor Anne Waiguru at 15 per cent, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua at 11 per cent and Kalonzo Musyoka at 8 per cent.

On Raila's side, Peter Kenneth takes the lead as the most preferred presidential running mate with 41 per cent.

Kalonzo follows closely with 18 per cent, Martha Karua 13 per cent and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu got 13 per cent support to be Raila's running mate.
