Uhuru noted that the Deputy President who has declared interest in the same seat will become president later.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to support ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidency bid.

Speaking in Sagana, Nyeri County, the Head of State appealed to the Mt Kenya region to the former Prime Minister's presidential.

"I appeal you to support Raila. Help him to the top. Even my friend Ruto, he can become president someday akishika line. Tushikilie huyo Mzee (Raila) mara hii, huyo kijana (Ruto) tutafikiria baadaye

"Let's hold the old man's hand and if the other young man also reforms, I have not stopped anyone from supporting him," Uhuru said.

In December 2021, Uhuru indirectly endorsed Raila while warning Kenyans against electing DP Ruto whom he said is in a hurry to take over the reigns of power.

The Head of State said politics is not a sprint but a marathon insisting that Kenyans will be in for a rude shock on the developments in the State House race.

Uhuru said the campaigns of discrimination including age were backward and that leaders should be elected on their intellectual ability.

"People are elected on their intellectual ability, not physical strength. Leadership is the brain, it's not a football match," Uhuru said.
