William Ruto: The wave of covid19 is clearly ravaging our nation with alarming increases in infections and deaths. The pandemic is killing people including health workers while destroying livelihoods. We should stop everything and mobilise every human, material and financial resource to fight,

Deputy President William Ruto has requested Kenyans to channel all their resources towards the fight against Covid-19.

In a tweet on Sunday, the DP noted that the virus was taking a toll on the country, adding that it is time to stop everything and focus on curbing further spread of the virus.

Citing the increased number of deaths in the country, DP Ruto noted that it is time to take stiff action.

“The wave of covid19 is clearly ravaging our nation with alarming increases in infections and deaths. The pandemic is killing people including health workers while destroying livelihoods. We should stop everything and mobilise every human, material and financial resource to fight,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, ODM leader Raila Odinga last week announced that collection of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum signatures will commence this week.

He noted that the BBI train has already left the station, adding that there is no room for amendments of the document.

“We will be doing the launch of the signature collection sometimes next week. We want that exercise to be done as soon as possible so that the matter can be handed over to the electoral commission, and then we can move towards the next phase of a referendum .

“This matter, as already mentioned before, should be concluded by latest April next year. That is where we are as far as BBI is concerned,” he said as quoted by Citizen.

Odinga’s announcement means that effective this week, they’ll be a group of politicians traversing the country seeking signatures and possibly putting Kenyans at risk of contracting the deadly virus.
