The former Prime Minister said that boda boda riders are doing a good job and individual wrongdoing should not spoil it for others.

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Thursday weighed in on the ongoing nationwide boda boda crackdown following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order.

Speaking at an Azimio la Umoja rally, the former Prime Minister said that boda boda riders are doing a good job and individual wrongdoing should not spoil it for others.

He asked the police not to be hard on the riders adding that they should not be punished because of one person’s mistake.

The ODM boss added that the riders should be helped in their business and if anyone is found on the wrong side of the law, they should face the consequences individually.

“Nataka wasaidiwe kwa upande wa biashara yao. Mtu akifanya makosa, huyo mwenyewe aende ashikwe.

“Mtu ambaye alifanya hicho kitu, alifanya kitu mbaya.

Raila’s remarks come after 16 boda boda riders were on Thursday detained for 15 more days after being alleged to be involved in an assault on a female motorist in Nairobi.

The prosecution sought to detain the suspects for more days for police to conclude investigations.
