The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appointed three new senior officials ahead of the August 9, 2022, general elections.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati confirmed the appointments in a statement on Friday, March 11.

Michael Ouma was appointed as the Director for Information Communication Technology, a role that was last held by the late Chris Msando.

Chrispine Otieno was appointed the Director of Legal Services and Ruth Kulundu, the Deputy Commission Secretary in charge of Operations.

Interviews for the shortlisted Applicants were conducted on March 9 and March 10 where Ouma, Otieno, and Kulundu emerged as the most qualified and suitable for the positions.

"The Commission congratulates the three successful Applicants on their new appointment," Chebukati stated.

The appointment of the three comes a day after IEBC confirmed the appointment of Hussein Marjan as the Chief Executive Officer of the IEBC, taking over from Ezra Chiloba.

Marjan had held the position on an acting capacity, however, emerged as the most qualified candidate following interviews on March 8.
