Former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has officially joined the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Elections. 

She was welcomed to the party by the party's leadership at their headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi, on Friday, March 11.

The former CS joined the ruling party along with a delegation of aspirants and Jubilee supporters from Nyandarua County who are eyeing elective office on a Jubilee Party ticket.

"Deputy Party leader Hon. Dr. Naomi N. Shaban (Party Operations), Party Chairman Hon. Nelson Dzuya and SG Hon. Jeremiah Kioni has today welcomed into the party a  delegation of aspirants and Jubilee supporters from Nyandarua County led by the former Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki who is seeking the Nyandarua Governor's seat on a Jubilee Party ticket," the party said in a statement.

Kariuki resigned as CS on February 9, 2022, in accordance with a directive by the IEBC requiring all holders of public office seeking elective office to resign six months to the polls.

The CS will seek to battle is out for the Nyandarua gubernatorial seat against incumbent Governor, Francis Kimemia.

Kimemia and Kariuki have since declared support for the Azimio La Umoja coalition, setting stage for a fierce battle between the two leaders. The coalition is expected to face a nomination headache as Kimemia also looks to defend his seat.
