Kanu secretary general Nick Salat said they will be fielding a different person for the seat.

Baringo Senator and Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi has announced that he will not vie for the Baringo Senatorial seat in the August 9 polls.

A report by Nation has quoted Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat saying the scion to Kenya's second president will this time not defend the seat which he has held for two terms.

"Kanu is considering some options and we will field a candidate in the Baringo Senatorial race to succeed chairman Gideon Moi," Salat.

Senator Moi was expected to face a tough race for the seat owing to the UDA party growing influence in the Kalenjin nation.

The fact that the Kalenjin Nation is producing a formidable candidate in the name of deputy president William Ruto in the August 9, polls meant it is a testing moment for Gideon who has supported the rival camp.

Considering politics in Kenya are local, the Senator would have had to do more to convince residents to back him and the presidential candidature of the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The Senator and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka endorsed Raila Odinga for the presidency on Saturday.

The endorsement come even as his party endorsed him for the presidency.

The Senator has been seeking to control the vote-rich region that is seemingly gravitating towards the DP's side.

The two leaders seem to be having political differences that have made them unable to see each other an eye to eye.

The Senator was fronted by his family to lead them on political leadership matters.
