Sensational Tanzanian Singer Diamond Platnumz now says he can't leave his country without permission from his government.

The Singer claimed that whenever he is flying out of the country for his activities, he is always arrested if he has not been granted permission.

He said the state agency in charge of music and art BASATA has to give him permission before he boards a plane out of the country.

“I think it’s only artists signed to Wasafi who are never allowed to leave the country without the government's approval. Anytime I get to the airport, I’m always arrested and stopped from boarding," he said.

"I don’t know why they keep doing this to me. Whenever I ask for the reason, I’m always told I must have a permit from the government before I can leave the country."

The Waah hit-maker noted that to obtain the permit, he has to part with TSh50,000 (Sh2,400).

The Singer spoke during an interview with Wasafi FM's The Switch show. Diamond is the major shareholder of Wasafi Media.

BASATA, however, denied that the rule is specifically for him and his Wasafi artists.

The agency said seeking a permit is a common procedure for all artists.

“The law is very clear to every artist whenever one wants to travel outside the country for any art-related gig. They have to obtain a permit from BASATA where one has to pay Tsh50,000” BASAT CEO Matiko Muniko told Mwananchi, a newspaper based in Tanzania.
